and mobile computing risks |
Shirt-pocket
sized computers costing £100-£500 are many times more powerful
than mainframes of just 20 years ago. Many can store hundreds of Word documents, Excel
spreadsheets, PDFs and the like. Laptops can be many times more powerful still, with massive
hard drives. They
frequently have weak security (PDAs especially), and many users
seem not to implement even those features available as standard.
Yet these devices often contain sensitive information and
many are linked to corporate systems (sometimes unofficially).
This session will ensure members are aware of the current
risks and appropriate countermeasures.
