The talk will be covering common spreadsheet
errors - what they are, how they are caused, the risks they pose and what can
be done about them. A taxonomy of spreadsheet errors will be discussed and
examples shown with hopefully interaction from the audience to detect obvious
errors. The aspects of causation such as human error, non-awareness and
over-reliance on others will be discussed with suggestions on how to prevent
or minimise. Audit aspects such as audit tools, methods and strategies will be
talked about with possible examples of tools in action.

exemption from the IIA’s Information Systems Auditing paper.
